Rufus TAYLOR, born abt 1826, in Ohio, married Elizabeth Fannie ROBINSON, born Oct 10,
1832, in Knox County, Indiana, March 8, 1849. Rufus & family came to Terre Haute in
the early 1870s. He is listed on the 1876 Terre Haute city directory. In 1880 Vigo County
census, Elizabeth is listed as a widow. What happned to Rufus? Where is he buried? Their
children included: Hamilton (born June 1850; married Sarah ROMINE), Jane (born abt 1851),
Mary (born June 1854; married John WATSON), Margaret (born abt 1855), William (born abt
1857), Cornelia (born Nov 1858; Married Charles MCFARLAND), David (born abt 1860),
Ethelinda (born abt 1864), My Great Grandfather Newton (born March 2, 1869; married Anna
Julia BROCKSCHMIDT, daughter of August & Mary), Rosetta (born Dec 1871. I would
appreciate hearing from any family descendant or researcher.

George TEFFT or TIFFT b. ca. 1780, Washington Co., R.I., d. 1851 near Charleston, Coles
Co., Il, and Harmony MITCHELL b. unknown, d between 1840 and 1848, presumably in Coles
Co., Il., who are my ggg grandparents, were married in Vigo County either 30 Oct 1822 or
18 Nov 1824. I am not sure which date is correct, or why they differ so.
Can anyone clarify the date and give me more information on either person, especially
Harmony MITCHELL? I cannot tell whether they were simply married there as the closest
"civilized" place to the newly-opened Coles County, Il hinterland, which I know
they were living in by 1833. this problem has been stumping me for 15 years, so I will be
grateful for any help.

I have been trying to find out about a Thomas family who lived in the early 1800s. My
great-great grandparents were James Duncan and Laurinda Thomas Piety. The made their home
in Prairie Creek which is south of Terre Haute. I have been trying to ascertain who the
parents of Laurinda Thomas Piety were. I know nothing of this family. I believe they moved
to Indiana from Ky(Nelson Co.?) prior to the time of Laurinda and James Duncan Piety's
marriage in 1829. I would appreciate any information you may be able to give me regarding
this family.

was Paul Marion Thralls born 28 Dec 1906. His father was Albert Marion Thralls born 24 Dec
1867 died 13 Jun 1961 his mother was Laura A Brown born 29 Aug 1872 and died 30 May 1956.

THURMAN

I am looking for any and all info regarding my Thurman ancestors in/from Indiana. Most
would be from the Vigo county area. I am most interseted in info regarding Cyrus Thurman
who would have lived in Vigo county in the early part of this century. He had a wife
Josephine(maiden name Christopher) who had a brother in the Danville area. Cyrus and
Josephine had 3 sons- Banks,Kenneth and Lester. When Josephine and Cyrus broke up, she and
the boys moved to California. Cyrus stayed behind and reportedly died in a mining accident
in Kentucky some time shortly thereafter(this may not be so). Thank you for efforts.

I am looking for relativities of my father. Dorris Dixon HIGGINSON b.12/25/1892 and died
9/1957. His father was Benjamine Franklin Higginson b.1850 d.1932 his mother was Marie
Adeline DIXON b.1861 died 1939. My great grandfather was George Washington HIGGINSON and
his wife I believe was Eliza. My dad,I believe, had five brother and sisters. ( do not any
of thier names) My mother name was Margaret Thomas TILLEY. They were married on 1//10/1919
in county of Vigo IN. This is all the info have about my dad other then he was in the Army
IN first world war. He died in Marion county and had lived there about 30 yrs or so. I
believe most of his family lived in southern IN.

researching Nathaniel Traverse family. Also family of Charles Warren Finnell. All of who
lived and died in Terre Haute. Son of Charles Warren Finnell, Arthue Robert Finnell,
daughter Wanda Lee Finnell married Claude Wesley Hoopingomer, daughter Susan Margaret
Finnell marries William K. Faust. The Travers/Traverse were in IN. by 1840 when I first
find them in the census. All help welcomed.

Haute, Indiana in 1885. His wife, Mollie Troth was born in Terre Haute in 1889. Their
daughter (my grandmother) Frances Pauline was born in Brazil, Indiana in 1910. Can anyone
provide me with more information? This is about all the information I have on this branch

Looking for information on John TURNER born about 1873 in Terre Haute. I have no other
information than that except he later married a Julie BURTON born about 1871 in Missouri.
I do not know where they married as they ended up in OK and AR raising their family. Any
help would be appreciated.
