HAPNER Wabash, April 13 – Funeral services for George Hapner, 69, who died Friday noon as the result of a self-inflicted bullet wound, will be held at 2:30 o’clock Sunday afternoon at the Wire Funeral Home with Rev. S. H. Caylor of the Middle Street Methodist Church in charge. Burial will be in Laketon Cemetery. Mr. Hapner, who had been a resident of Wabash for the past four years, had been in ill health for some time. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Emma Schaaf Hapner and the following nine children: Harry Hapner, Laketon; Jesse Hapner, Urbana; Hugh Hapner, North Manchester; William, Robert and Eldo Hapner, Mrs. Frank DeLong, Mrs. Hubert Baker and Mrs. Curtis Shoemaker, all of Wabash. Two brothers, Milton Hapner of Fort Wayne and Grant Hapner of South Whitley, and one sister, Mary Hapner, also survive. Journal-Gazette, Fort Wayne, IN, April 14, 1940.
