OBITUARY - News-Journal, North Manchester (IN) - January 2, 1913 BLIND MINISTER DIES AT ROANN HOME David Neff, an aged resident in the vicinity of Roann, passed away at his home Friday after being in poor health for nearly a year. The funeral was held at the church of the Brethren at Roann, and the burial was in #the Roann cemetery. Mr. Neff was born in Franklin county, Virigina, April 15, 1827 and died at his home at Roann, December 27, 1912, aged 85 years, 8 months and 12 days. He was the youngest son of David and Mary Neff, who died before he was 13 years of age. He came to Indiana when he was 22 years of age, and has resided here since. On January 17, 1852 he was married to Hannah Fisher, of Mexico, and four children were born to them, two surviving. He and his wife united with the Church of the Brethren in 1852 and remained devoted members until their deaths, he having served as a deacon and minister, presiding over the Roann church for about twenty years. He served as a member of the standing national conference of the chruch three times and as a moderator at the district conference for the fourth time in 1894. His first wife passing away, he was united in marriage to Anna C. White on July 11, 1899, who died January 12, 1905. In August 1906 he was married to Susie Trump, who survives him. One daughter is the wife of Elder Dorsey Hodgden of Dayton, Ohio, and his son is Rev. Henry Neff of South Whitley. There are eight grandchildren. For the last fifteen years Mr. Neff has been totally blind, but has borne his suffering without complaint. The funeral was conducted by Elder J.D. Reiff assisted by Rev. I.d. Warren and was largely attended.
