SMELTZLEY John F. Smeltzley, 64, of 311 East DeWald Street, died at Baumgartner’s Service Station, 1940 South Harrison Street at 9:30 am yesterday of a heart attack. Mr. Smeltzley was born in Urbana and lived in Fort Wayne for the last 27 years. For a number of years he operated the Danberry Hat Shop. He has been associated with the Troy Dry Cleaning Company since 1928. He was a member of Fort Wayne Elks Lodge No. 155. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary E. Smeltzley; one son, Clifford of Fort Wayne; a sister, Mrs. R. V. Blocker of Huntington; three brothers, Lawrence of Anderson, Alfred, Minneapolis, and Floyd of Wabash; and one grandchild. The body was taken to Mungovan & Sons Mortuary, where friends may call after 7 pm today. Elk’s services will be held at the mortuary at 7:30 pm Tuesday. The body will be removed at 8 am Wednesday to the home of Floyd Smeltzley in Wabash; where funeral services will be held at 2 pm. Burial will be in Fall Cemetery, Wabash.
