Dear Mr. Mounts, I have rephrased and added information on William H. Cady. It may make the information a little clearer. I also separated the notes on John and Andrew Leming and James Applegate so that they can be put with the soldiers listing. I think this will make it easier for descendants to find the notes. Would you like the birth and death dates for William's siblings; to the extent I know them? Thanks again for a great service to Mexican War soldiers and their descendants. William Horace Cady, private, 3rd Regiment Indiana Volunteers, Company H. is the brother of my great grandfather Henry (Leming/Liming, also double "m" or "n") Cady. William Horace Cady: is the son of Benjamin Johnson Cady and Catharine Leming/Liming (various sp.). He was born: about 1829 in Henry County Indiana and about 1838 he moved: with his family to Miami County, Indiana and fits into the census for the family listed there in 1840. William was probably 17 years old when he mustered into service. His family were residents of Miami County at the time he enlisted. After his discharge, William H. Cady of Miami County Indiana applied in Circuit Court at Peru, 22 October 1847 for Bounty Land (#11073, 160 acres Winamac County, Indiana). The family moved to Fayette County, Texas about 1848/9. In the 1850 census schedule in LaGrange, Fayette County, (p. 213) B. Cady with sons, Benjamin and James are listed. This is William's father and two of his brothers. William is listed (p.215) in the household of a Burleson. In 1852 and 1853 William is listed as paying taxes living in his father's residence. He died: 16 October 1855 at Lagrange Texas, unmarried. William's full name, death date and marital status is given in a Claim of (Minor Children crossed out) Brothers' (inserted) For Bounty Land filed by Benjamin F. Cady of Cedar Valley, Hays County, Texas and James C. Cady of Blanco County, Texas, in Hays County Circuit Court, March 24, 1883. Burial location unknown but probably near Lagrange, Texas. William's Family: Father, Benjamin Johnson Cady; born ca. 1795, died 4 Dec 1879, probably Cowley County, KS; Mother, Catharine Lining (sp) born 1800-1802, Hamilton County, Ohio, died 1848-49, married November 1820 in Hamilton County, Ohio. Siblings: Polly (married M. Martindale); Henry L.; Joseph Daniel; William Horace; Silas N.; Benjamin Frank; James Curtis; half brother Penuel, son of Benjamin J. and 2nd wife, Harriet (Collins) married 1852, Caldwell County, Texas.
