Company.  He fought in the battles of Monterey and Buena Vista in the Mexican-American 
War. He mustered out of the Army at Madison, Indiana, on 28 July 1848. His first wife 
was Margaret Russell and they had a daughter named Monterey Buena Vista Cook in 
1849.  Margaret died young; Jerome then moved west to Iowa and married Amanda 
Heron, 14 Apr 1856, in Anamosa Iowa.  he died 15 May 1869 in Anamosa, Iowa.  Source
