George Bishop, was a veteran for the Mexican War. In his obituary, it says he moved to 
Lafayette, Indiana. However, the obituary states that he enlisted in the Mexican War in 
Fountain County, Indiana. He married his second wife in Indiana, Mary Cady Allen. Don't 
know parents, first wife or siblings!  Obit states: He was born on December 13, 1823 at 
Pickaway County, Ohio. When a boy he moved with his parents to Lafayette, Indiana, 
where he enlisted in Company C. Vol. Inf. 5th Regiment of Indiana, in the Mexican War.

Grandfather who was Samuel Independence Mayhall was also in the war with Mexico, was 
a private and served with Company C, 5th Indiana Volunteer Infantry. He did not get 
killed or wounded, that we know of, though and lived to be reasonably old. He moved 
to Texas in the late 1860's from Illinois where he had settled when he left Indiana.
