Hi, I've tracking John Madden Warner, my great-grandfather, for sometime. My grandmother wrote he had served in the Mexican American War and was discharged at the end with honor. I have a picture taken of him wearing a medal but can not make it out. It was taken in civilian clothes with his children. This is the first site I have found a John Warner. I will send for the Military Records and see if the dates fit. My information from censes records is September 26, 1826. The children say he was born in England and the family settled in Michigan. He was suppose to have sailed on ships on the Great Lakes. the birth date varies one or two years on censes records but the rest of the family dates remain the same. He went to British Columbia for the gold rush and was married there in 1860 and then came down to Washington about 1866. He had eleven children. I know where all the descendents are except for one son. Hopefully this is the right John Warner. I will get back to you when I receive his military records and confirm place of birth and birth date.
