He was born 15 Nov 1828 in Owen County, Kentucky. His family moved to Indiana when he was three years old [1831], they moved just south of Indianapolis, Indiana. He was buried in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton, Indiana. He died 16 Feb 1917 in New Paris, Indiana. He was united in marriage to Nancy Mathews, the daughter of Jacob B. Mathews and Sarah Tolin, 15 Nov 1849, in Marion County, Indiana. She was born 17 may 1827, in Brown County, Ohio. She was one of eleven children. When she was three years of age, her parents emigrated from Ohio and entered land in Marion County, Indiana, ten miles southeast of Indianapolis. They had the following children: William H. Kemper was born 3 Oct 1850 and died 21 Jul 1880, in Tipton County, Indiana. He was buried 24 Jul 1880 in Sandbank Cemetery, Madison Township, Tipton County, Indiana; James W. Kemper; Levi B. Kemper; Cyrus W. Kemper; Sarah Kemper and David Kemper. Nancy was buried in 1912 in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton, Indiana. She died 5 Sep 1912 in Tipton, Indiana.
