Hayes Armes

Hayes Armes, 78, 414 E. Pearl Street, city, died at 9:30 a.m. yesterday, at his home after an illness of six years. Mr. Armes was born January 7, 1878, in Harrison Township, the son of Henry and Indiana (Steele) Armes. On October 26, 1898, he married Melissa White, who survives. Mr. Armes was a member of the Veale Creek Baptist Church. The deceased was a retired farmer and had been employed at the Myers Locker Plant for seven years. He was educated in the Harrison township schools. Surviving besides his wife is a son, Cletus Armes, Detroit, MI, and one daughter, Mrs. Henry (Donna) Beck, St. Louis, MO. There are three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A. sister, Mrs. Nancy White, city, and a half-brother, Ethel Armes, Campbell, Mississippi, also survive. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Gill Chapel, with Rev. William R. Seat officiating. Burial will be in the Aikman Creek cemetery. Friends may call at the Gill Funeral home after 7 p.m. today.
