Felix Chestnut

20 Apr 1836 - 29 Dec 1908

Felix Chestnut, an aged citizen of Van Buren Township, died Tuesday morning of pneumonia fever after an illness of several weeks. Mr. Chestnut was a son of James and Phoebe (Duffield) Chestnut and was born April 20, 1836. He was 72 years, 8 months, and 9 days of age at his death. During the greater part of his life he has lived in Daviess County. In 1861 he was married to Harriet Wade, and to this union were born seven children. They are Lafayette, William, and Harvey G. Chestnut, Mrs. William (Mary Clementine) Fisher, Mrs. James (Phoebe Jane) Spurgeon, Mrs. Charles (Harriet Melinda) Kettery, and Miss Susie Chestnut, all of whom are living except one, Harvey G. Chestnut, who died six years ago. He also leaves one brother, three sisters, 28 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The funeral services were held yesterday morning with Rev. C.H. Buchanan in charge. Burial in Raglesville cemetery
