Jesse Chestnut

Funeral services for Jesse Chestnut, 72, 1500 Highway 57 South, who died Wednesday at 5:50AM at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, will be Saturday at 2PM at the Christ United Methodist church of which Mr. Chestnut was an active member. The Rev. Dr. William Hughes will officiate. Burial will be in the Raglesville Cemetery. Mr. Chestnut had been ill for several months, and seriously ill for two weeks. A retired trucker, he was born December 13, 1896 in Bogard Township, a son of Harvey Greene and Anza L. (Noblett) Chestnut. On May 9, 1920 he married Ora Myers. She survives. Mr. Chestnut had been employed by the W.T. Dearmin Company of Odon; Ward Poultry, Washington, and the Ennis Poultry Company, also of this city. He was a member of the Brotherhood Class of Christ United Methodist Church and was a lifetime resident of this community. In addition to his widow, he leaves three daughters, Mrs. Fred (Violet) Hill, Anderson, Indiana; Mrs. John (Vera) Ward, Washington and Mrs. Kenneth (Vonda) Mauck, also of Anderson; five grandchildren and one great grandchild. One son, Truman Rex Chestnut, died in infancy. Mr. Chestnut was the last of his immediate family. Friends may call at the V. L. Poindexter Funeral Home after 7PM today.
