In loving memory

Walter Leroy Chestnut

13 Feb 1894 - 11 Jul 1919

Walter Leroy Chestnut, a well known young man of this community, passed away at his home southwest of here last Friday, his death being due to tuberculosis. His health had been very poor for some time and his death was not unexpected. Walter Leroy Chestnut, son of Harvey Greene and Anza (Noblett) Chestnut (both deceased) was born Feb. 13, 1894 departed this life July 11, 1919 at the age of 25 years 4 months and 28 days. His father preceded him in death eighteen years ago and his mother twelve years ago. One sister Pearl and two brothers Jesse and Harvey Ray survive him. Another sister Pleasie preceded him in death on Monday of last week. He accepted his trials and suffering with cheerfulness and patience. He often said he wished to get well but he knew that he could not. He realized that he was going to depart this life and called for his brothers and sister and aged grandfather and told them to stand close around his bed and said "all be good". His spirit then took its flight to its maker. Walter was an exemplary young man and had a host of friends who mourn his demise. The funeral services were held from the U.B. church at Raglesville Saturday at 10:30AM with Rev. Ernest Roberts of this city in charge. Burial was made in the cemetery at that place.
