Grandeville E. Colbert

Grandeville E (Granny) Colbert, 60, 703 Southwest Fifth Street died suddenly at his home at 1:30 a.m. Monday. Mr. Colbert was Assistant Superintendent of City Water Dept. He was born in Washington, September 27, 1912 son of Fred & Lidie (Williams) Colbert, & attended local schools. He was a former member of Eagles Lodge & attended Central Christian Church. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1929 to 1933. Mr. Colbert was formerly married to Lucille Colbert who now lives in Kokomo. Surviving are to sons, William David & Larry Elden, both of Kokomo, & four daughters, Mrs. Maury( Geraldine) Cundiff, Petersburg; Mrs. Norman ( Jan) Sims, Greentown, Indiana, Mrs. Howard( Judith) Stone, Tampa Florida & Mrs. Starlee Colbert, Kokomo, & 13 grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Dola Colbert Washington, Delus Colbert Largo, Indiana & William B Colbert, Linton & one sister, Mrs. Norbert (Rosie) Dosch, Washington. Two sisters preceded him in death Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Gill Chapel with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. Rev. Clifford O. Nantz will officiate. Friends may call after 7 p.m. today.
