Seth Ryan Coy, 19, of Montgomery, died in a car accident Wednesday at 6:10 p.m. near Shelbyville, Ky. He was born Sept. 7, 1989, in Washington, the son of James Richard Coy and Rhonda Kaye Gray. He was graduated from Washington High School in 2008, where he was a member of the 2008 Class 3A State Championship basketball team. He was also WHS Prom King and was voted Most Popular in high school. He was a member of the North-South All Star Team in basketball and was the Little League All-Star home run leader for every year he played. He was a mentor to younger children and was able to accomplish anything he set his mind to. He was attending East Tennessee University on a basketball scholarship. He attended Antioch Christian and Aikman Creek Baptist churches. Surviving are his mother and her fianceƩ, Rhonda Kaye Gray and Eric Clark of Montgomery; his father and stepmother, James Richard and Autumn Coy of Washington; brothers, Austin Gray and Brody Clark of Montgomery and Jameson Coy of Washington; grandparents, Terry Cox, and Don and Janice Mayes, all of Washington; great grandmother Irene Russell of Washington, several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Anna Cox and great grandfather Woodrow Russell. Visitation will be Saturday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Washington High School Hatchet House, where the funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. Rev. Ron Raymond and Pastor Keith Meece will officiate. Burial will be in New Veale Creek Cemetery. A Seth Coy Memorial Fund had been established at Old National Bank and a scholarship fund has been established at the Daviess Community Foundation in his honor.
