Hile Gammon

Hile Gammon, age 85, 1005 W. Walnut, died at 6:40 a.m. Sunday at his home following a serious illness of two weeks. He had been ill for three months.
Mr. Gammon was born July 29, 1878, in Martin County, the son of Philip and Mary (Way) Gammon. He married Rachael E. Abel on December 25, 1898 and she died July 26, 1961. Mr. Gammon was a retired coal miner.
Surviving are two sons, Frank and Claude Gammon, both of Washington; five daughters, Mrs. Joe(Alta) Stevens, Washington R. 3., Mrs Cecil *Hallie) Bough and Mrs. Dallas (Mabel) Fox, both of Washington Rt. 2, Mrs. Lillie Barrows, and Mrs. Clara Trowbridge, both of Washington, 18 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. Two daughters preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the V.L. Poindexter Chapel with Rev. Ryburn Ray in charge. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends my call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today.
