Vera E. Perkins Dies Sunday
Mrs. Vera Elizabeth Perkins, 63, 500 Lincoln Street, died at 1:55 p.m. Sunday at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes. She had been ill for a month and seriously ill for one week. She was born November 1, 1907 in Pike County, a daughter of Herschel and Lula Jane (Craig) Abbott and attended Otwell schools and nursing school at Welborn Baptist Hospital in Evansville. Before her marriage, she was employed as a nurse at Daviess County Hospital. In March 1945, she married Sam Perkins who preceded her in death in 1969, She was a member of Antioch Christian Church. She is survived by three daughters, Miss Isobelle Perkins, Mrs. Buddy Joe (Sandra Sue) Lane and Mrs. Charles (Shirley) White, all of Washington, one stepson, Harold Perkins, Washington, Route 3, and one grandson. Also surviving are one brother and one sister in Petersburg, Waldo Abbot and Mrs. Ruth Alt, and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Davis, who lives in Florida. Two brothers are deceased. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Antioch Christian Church with the Rev. Ben Ray Bean, as minister and burial in Antioch Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gill Funeral Home after 7 p.m. today. The casket will be taken to the church at noon Wednesday and friends may call there from 1 to 2 p.m. The casket will be closed at the start of the service.
