In loving memory

William Grant Scales

1891-1965

W. Grant Scales, Loogootee business man and insurance agent for thirty-six years, died Sunday, April 11, at 9 a.m. at his residence on Highway 50 west. He had been in failing health for some time and seriously ill for several weeks. Mr. Scales, a former school teacher, was born November 3, 1891, in Reeve Township, Daviess County, the son of Sheridan and Sarah (Gilley) Scales. He married Alice E. Smith, March 21, 1915, and she survives. He was a member and an Elder of the Waco Church of Christ. In addition to Mrs. Scales, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Edwards of Loogootee and Mrs. Ardella Taylor of Washington; one brother, Curtis R. Scales, of Indianapolis. There are five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Old Union Church in Reeve Township with Bro. Jonnie Edwards of Bloomington officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
