John Halfhill who was born in Pike County, Pennsylvania, November 19, 1817 and died at the residence of his son near Portland on January 22, 1889, 71 years, 1 month, 12 days. His wife died 32 years ago. Nine children survive.
The funeral was on Thursday morning at Chapel Church, interment in the Lancaster Cemetery.
