COWAN - PARKER
Submitted by Laurie Kelly-Wentz - 6 October 2015
I am trying to find the burial place of my 4th-great grandfather. His name was Eli Ellsworth (or Ellsworth Eli) Parker, b. 1812 in Virginia, d. after 1880 in Perry Co., Indiana. His parents were John Parker and Mary Pritchard. His wife was Rosa "Rosey" Cowan. Family legend has it that he was a reverand. It is possible that he was known as Rev. Parker. He had at least three sons who were styled as Rev. (Harry C., John C., and Isaac Newton). Any and all help in getting pointed into the right direction will be appreciated.
CRONIN - LUKE
Submitted by DeAnna Luke-Huey - 21 March 2007
Looking for information regarding Jesse Standford CRONIN-LUKE. b. May 5, 1880 to Simpson Cronin and Mary E. (Dorsey) LUKE in Perry Cty, d. 1934 in Coos Cty, OR.
1880 Census shows Simpson and Mary living together with note that Mary was "supposed to be concubine". Both were widowed at the time - Simpson had one remaining child at home (Amanda). Mary a widow of Thomas LUKE (d.1875) had 4 children, Edward, LeRoy, John N. & Minnie. Jesse grew up with the LUKE surname after the death of his father, Simpson CRONIN. His older sister, Minne O. Luke, married Ignatious SCHRANER in Perry Cty.
Jesse, with brothers Edward and Roy settled in Coos County, OR between 1901 and 1910. Jesse had two children, Jessie LUKE born to first wife, Lunetta abt 1907 and Norman W. LUKE by second wife, Lerona HELMS. Jesse was my great grandfather and seemingly not recognized by older CRONIN siblings. I have just recently solved this mystery after running into dead ends for years looking for LUKE history. Love to hear from any LUKE or CRONIN families.
